The first issue of Al-Ittihad newspaper was published on October 20, 1969 during a period marked by continuous efforts from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the ruler of Abu Dhabi at that time, as he was intensively working with his brothers, the rulers of the Emirates, to establish the union of the United Arab Emirates.
Today, around one hundred journalists work at Al-Ittihad, distributed between Abu Dhabi and offices in Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and all other Emirates, in addition to offices in Beirut and Cairo, and correspondents around the world. Journalists rely on the latest technologies in their work within a newsroom equipped with devices and the latest editing technologies. Recently, "Al-Ittihad" has adopted the "Rapid Browser" program for receiving news from news agencies, editing them, and monitoring them until they are ready for printing. It is worth mentioning that "Al-Ittihad" entered the world of the internet on Friday, March 15, 1996 to provide its readers with a new service, becoming the first local newspaper to offer this service.
